Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Senior Expert

Federico Gallopin is a climate finance and project development expert with over 20 years of experience working with global climate funds like the Green Climate Fund (GCF), GEF, and the Adaptation Fund. Federico started his career as a renewable energy project development in the private sector and from 2015 he has worked with several International Organizations mainly on climate change mitigation and adaptation projects (GCF, IFAD, FAO, SNV, ICRC, WFP, UNEP, UNIDO, ADB, AfDB, GGGI, GCA, USAID), in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. Between 2017 and 2020 Federico worked as a Lead Consultant and Project Development Advisor for the Green Climate Fund reviewing private sector project proposals presented to the GCF (agriculture, food security, forestry, and bioenergy) and developing projects for GCF DAEs and NDAs.

Federico’s main career achievement is supporting the development of 9 successfully approved GCF Funding Proposals between 2012 and 2024, which have mobilized over USD 609 million in GCF financing and leveraged over USD 4.5 billion in co-financing. His key skills are in project development, climate finance access, renewable energy projects, and theory of change for climate resilience strategies.
